W. Storey Team Supports Young People and Local Communities Through Two Meaningful Initiatives

At W. Storey Funeral Service, supporting local communities goes far beyond the services we provide. Over recent weeks, team members have been involved in two very different but equally rewarding activities, helping to support both young people preparing for the future and a charity providing vital emotional support to those in need.

Helping Students Build Confidence

In June, Francesca Capaldi and Tony Jepson visited Laurence Jackson School to take part in mock interview sessions for Year 10 students ahead of their work experience placements. The opportunity came after conversations with the school about future careers events and gave the team a chance to share their experience as local employers.

Throughout the day, Francesca and Tony met with students individually, conducting practice interviews and providing constructive feedback to help build confidence and interview skills. They were impressed by the students’ maturity, ambition and enthusiasm, and described the experience as both rewarding and inspiring. The team hopes to continue supporting the initiative in future years.

Raising Funds for Samaritans Awareness Day

The team also came together to support Samaritans Awareness Day with a cake sale held at the W. Storey branch in July. Staff members baked and donated a variety of homemade treats, inviting local people to pop in, enjoy a sweet treat and support a worthy cause.

The event proved to be a great success, attracting strong support from the local community and creating opportunities for people to visit the funeral home in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Every item on sale was sold, raising an impressive £155 for Samaritans, the charity dedicated to providing emotional support to anyone struggling to cope.

The team would like to thank everyone who baked, donated and purchased treats to help make the fundraiser such a success.

Making a Difference Locally

Whether helping young people prepare for their future careers or raising funds for an important charity, the W. Storey team remains committed to making a positive difference within the communities they serve. These activities reflect the team’s ongoing dedication to supporting local causes, building connections and giving back wherever they can.
