Baby Loss Awareness Week: Supporting Local Families and Raising Awareness

At W. Storey Funeral Service, we believe in supporting our community through life’s most difficult moments. During Baby Loss Awareness Week, held from 9 to 15 October, our team came together with local organisations and families to help raise awareness, encourage conversations and offer support to those affected by baby loss.

Throughout the week, every member of staff wore official Baby Loss Awareness Week pins as a visible sign of remembrance and support. This simple gesture helped spark important conversations and showed solidarity with families who have experienced the loss of a baby.

As part of our activities, we also became a collection point for letters and messages. The initiative provided a space for people to write down their thoughts, feelings and memories, recognising that putting emotions into words can often be just as comforting as talking to someone.

We were also proud to support the ribbon display organised by local group Priory ABC at Guisborough Parish Church. W. Storey acted as a collection point for ribbons throughout the week, with the display becoming a moving tribute that reflected the strength of support within our community.

To mark the occasion further, our funeral home was illuminated in pink and blue each evening throughout the awareness week. The display helped raise awareness locally and generated a particularly positive response across social media, encouraging even more people to engage with the campaign and learn about the support available.

Baby Loss Awareness Week provides an opportunity to remember babies who are no longer with us, acknowledge the experiences of bereaved families and ensure that nobody feels alone in their grief. We are honoured to have played a small part in supporting this important cause and would like to thank everyone who took part, shared their stories or supported the campaign in any way.
